he State Department for Devolution's  Director for Capacity Building and Technical Assistance Kennedy Nyambati today represented our Principal Secretary Teresia Mbaika in Governor H.E. Joseph Ole Lenku, EGH's Kajiado County during the county's launch of the 2nd Kenya Devolution Support Program (KDSPII).
The Kenya Devolution Support Program was conceived to enhance the capacity of county governments in the delivery of their mandates. The first phase of KDSP was implemented from 2016 - 2021 and it  improved the capacity of county governments in key areas such as public financial management, planning, human resource management, and civic education.
"We have seen improvements in the way counties manage their resources, plan for their development and engage with citizens and this has translated into better service delivery and increased trust between the people and their county governments," said Director Nyambati.
The second phase of the KDSP will focus on deepening the institutionalization of devolved functions, enhancing the quality of service delivery and promoting accountability and transparency at the county level.
"We will work closely with county governments to ensure that they have the tools, resources, and expertise necessary to deliver on their mandates effectively. This includes capacity-building initiatives, technical assistance, and financial support to help counties improve their planning, budgeting, and implementation processes," said Director Nyambati.
Mr Nyambati encouraged all present to renew their commitment to the success of devolution in Kenya and to ensure that county governments are empowered to deliver quality services, promote inclusive development and build a better future for all Kenyans.
H.E Governor Joseph ole Lenku on his part lauded the achievements of KSDP 1 and expressed optimism of more positive development in KDSP II. He said the funds will go into the milk, beef, hides and skins and tomato value chains in line with the County's vision of Modulated Pastoralism.
