The 11th General Assembly of the World Scout Parliamentary Union (WSPU)

The 11th General Assembly of the World Scout Parliamentary Union (WSPU) kicked off with a powerful call to action for young people to uphold the core ethos of the Scouting movement to promote unity in diversity, shared purpose and commitment to driving positive change among youth globally.
In a vibrant session led by WSPU Kenya President John Kj Kiarie, participants were honored by the presence of former National Assembly Speaker Francis Ole Kaparo, who founded the Kenyan WSPU Chapter in 2004. Mr. Kaparo expressed his pride in the remarkable growth of the movement — from 200,000 Scouts in 2004 to over 1.5 million by 2018.
The Assembly has brought together delegates from over 20 countries, including Tanzania, Burundi, Zambia, Rwanda, Malawi, South Korea, Croatia, Portugal, Sri Lanka, Poland, and many others, reflecting the truly global spirit of Scouting.
The event was graced by Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Gladys Boss Shollei, representing the Speaker of the National Assembly and WSPU Kenya Patron, Rt. Hon. Moses Wetang’ula.
The General Assembly began on a high note with delegates enjoying an excursion to the Nairobi National Park and a Bush Breakfast in the wild, a memorable experience organized by WSPU Executive Director Poppins Mdone Misoi in partnership with MagicalKenya.
Scouting continues to serve as a symbol of global solidarity, fostering partnerships that transcend borders and inspiring generations to leave the world better than we found it.
The WSPU continues to strengthen the bond between parliamentarians and Scouts in empowering the next generation of leaders to build a better world.
The State Department for Devolution was represented by the Secretary for Devolution and Intergovernmental Relation MO Shalle, Director Administration Justine Nelima, Chief State Counsel Pauline Muriithia among others.
